THIS DAY OR THAT DAY?!

 

Today’s message boasts the title: THIS DAY OR THAT DAY?!

 

A reading from…

2 Peter 3:8 – New International Version

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

 

-          Peter was writing to the churches in minor Asia

-          They were battling with the persecution and it was starting to cause division within the church

-          They were about to go down the road of false teaching when Peter said “Hang on. Let’s realign our focus here.”

-          We have a job to do for God and we cannot deter from that

-          Remember all the things I told you before… here’s a reminder… but remember this one thing

-          This one thing has great value; you will LIVE differently if you understand it; you will be able to tap into the peace you already have because of it.

 

What is that one thing?

With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

TIME

-          Time is a concept of parallel perspective 

-          God sees time differently from the way we do

-          We want to rush things when God says hang on my son, hang on my daughter, there is something else that needs to take place first within you before you can have that

-          We want aspects of our lives to be removed from our mental time frame, but God says no wait… There are lessons to be learnt from this before you can move on

-          But I just wish that never happened! Oh really? says King Jesus… Did you not realize that you made that bad decision and I’m teaching you how to get out of it and never make it again?

-          I am your Father in Heaven and I will only do what it good for you.

 

TRUST

-          When we remove ourselves from the equation God takes control.

-          King Me or Queen You needs to be replaced with King Jesus.

-          If we state that our hope is in God and God alone, surely, we need to trust in His timing and not our own

-          You may be so close to your breakthrough right now and you may feel like you want to give up but God is in control.

-          He knows when it’s coming

-          Persevere in your walk and your breakthrough will come

-          Trust, trust, trust…

-          Want a new job but never sent out your CV?

-          Want to advance your knowledge but never read a book?

-          Asking for a breakthrough in your finances but still spending unnecessarily?

-          Want a new car but you haven’t bothered to wash the one you already have?

-          We need to put action to our requests and work towards what we want. 

Let us pray with you:

Heavenly Father, God of all the earth, we are so in awe of your greatness. We praise your Holy name and say that you are in control over our lives. We confess with our mouths that you are our Lord and Saviour and we know that your timing is perfect. Lord though we may get frustrated with where we are we know it is exactly where you want us to be. Oh King Jesus we proclaim your power and authority over our day, over our situations and over our life and say we have been created to be the head and not the tail. We rejoice for the victory is already ours. We love your Lord. Amen.
